Former UN-Energy Secretary
Dr. Ivan Vera is a senior expert consultant  on energy, water and sustainable development. He was the Secretary of UN-Energy and the Chief of the Water, Energy and Capacity Development Branch of the Division for Sustainable Development at the United Nations in New York until 2017.  
Dr. Vera has over 30 years of professional experience. At the UN, Dr. Vera managed projects and studies related to energy, water, technology transfer, climate change, green economy and sustainable development. Before coming to New York, he worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, the US Department of Energy in Washington DC and the Central Thermoelectric Plant of Venezuela. Dr. Vera holds PhD and MS degrees in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania; an MBA degree in the Management of Science, Technology and Innovation from the George Washington University; and a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
